March 11, 1967 – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service listed the bald eagle as endangered under the federal Endangered Species Act.
January 5, 2007 – After the Service declared that desert nesting bald eagles were no longer"significant" enough to warrant Endangered Species Act status as a distinct population segment, the Center filed a complaint seeking an injunction against delisting the southwestern population.
July 9, 2007 – The Fish and Wildlife Service declared the bald eagle recovered nationwide and removed the species from the Endangered Species list, including the desert nesting bald eagle, which is still endangered.
