NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 10, 2003 Contacts: CABIN OWNERS, FIREFIGHTERS AND LAWMAKERS TO SPEAK IN OPPOSITION TO BUSH’S FOREST PLAN AT 8 A.M. PRESS CONFERENCE, RALLY TO FOLLOW Tucson, AZ--Conservation groups and local volunteers and organizers will hold a rally and press conference in Tucson Monday morning to send a message to the Bush Administration that they should focus on protecting fire-prone communities rather than limiting public involvement and promoting more old growth logging. President Bush is in town to visit the Aspen fire area and to promote his forest plan, the so-called “Healthy Forests Initiative”. The rally and conference will run from 8-10 am at the base of Mount Lemmon (in front of the Catalina Highway road closure). Speakers at the rally will include:
