Earth2Trump Resistance Roadshow, Rallying 5,250 in 15 Cities, Arrives in D.C.

Grand Finale to Cross-country Tour Tonight, Displaying Thousands of Personal Pleas, Pledges of Resistance Collected During 7,500-mile Journeys

WASHINGTON— The Earth2Trump Roadshow of Resistance has arrived in Washington, D.C., for the presidential inauguration as the country's biggest, broadest grassroots organizing campaign focused on resisting Trump's attacks on the environment and civil rights.

More than 5,250 people have attended Earth2Trump events in 15 cities across the country since its Jan. 2 West Coast launch — including more than 500 in Tucson and 1,200 in St. Augustine, Fla. over the weekend — and more than 150,000 have signed the pledge of resistance. The cross-country tour is sponsored by the Center for Biological Diversity in coordination with local organizations and activists.

“The turnout and energy at these Earth2Trump events have been incredible. We're arriving in D.C. with the momentum of a major national movement that will oppose every item on Trump's radical agenda,” said Kierán Suckling, the Center's executive director. “With thousands of newly empowered people on our side, we'll fiercely resist policies and appointees that hurt wildlife, poison our air and water, destroy our climate, promote racism, misogyny or homophobia, or marginalize entire segments of our society.”

The Earth2Trump roadshow, which included two separate tours across the United States, features live music, national and local speakers, a pledge of resistance, and a chance for participants to write personalized #Earth2Trump messages to be displayed during tonight's event at Capitale, 1301 K St NW, Washington, D.C., and taken to the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20.

Earth2Trump's central tour has traveled more than 3,500 miles by train from Seattle, with its last event Monday in Chicago drawing more than 300 people. The southern tour by van, carrying a five-foot painted globe being filled with Trump-related messages, has traveled more than 4,000 miles since launching in Oakland, Calif. It was in Norfolk, Va., Tuesday night, drawing almost 200 people and boosting the tour's total turnout to more than 5,250.
